My new computer isn’t just small, it’s mini.
eve got me a new computer for Christmas. We weren’t expecting it for another week, but Dell and FedEx worked together well and delivered it a week early.
Yes, you read that correctly. It’s a Dell. Our house hasn’t had a PC since 2001, so it’s quite an odd feeling. I thought I would never own anything that wasn’t an Apple, but too many things pushed me away from Apple and into the hands of a rival PC company.
The new computer is a Dell Mini 9, and when they say Mini, they mean Mini. It one of those computers that you can only describe to people by showing it to them. The guys at worked freaked when they saw it. One of my coworkers was able to slide the computer into one of his pockets.
One cool feature of the new netbook is that it runs Ubuntu, and because it’s on an Intel chipset, I have flash support! Yes’ after all these years to wanting to use Linux, but finding it unusable because of lack of support for the PPC chipset are behind me now. I’m now in the Linux majority.
I’ll go into more depth and detail as I continue my trek into the Linux and netbook world.
