This weekend I went toa couple of our local flea markets to pick up some new vinyl. I didn’t have anything specific in mind, I just knew I wanted more albums. At the end of the weekend I ended up with 4 new LPs, and I’m very pleased with my Haul.

Dark Side of the Moon
The first album I purchased was Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. I picked it up for just $3 in the back of one flea market shop in Augusta. The going rate for the LP on Amazon is $20, so I got a great deal. The cover glue has worn away, so I’ll need to re-glue it, but the album itself is in great condition. It’s just a shame this was the one and only record I picked up at this flea market. Everything else available there was disposable crap, so I moved on to our other flea market.
At the second local flea market I found a guy who has 6000+ vinyl albums for sale. He had many of them sorted by genre, so he asked me what I was looking for. I told him Punk, but he said he had no idea what that was. I didn’t have time to go through each and every box he had, but even with my quick glances I found 3 albums.

Heart Greatest Hits/Live
The first album is Heart’s Greatest Hits/Live. It was Epic’s first greatest hits release of Heart material and it’s unique in that it was a 2 record set with the first LP holding the studio hits and the second LP holding Live material from the band. It’s a great album and a joy to listen to. Not bad for $3.
The second album is Billy Joel’s Great Hits volume I & II. It’s pure pop crap, but I love it. Unfortunately the first LP has been compressed, so the first two songs of both sides won’t play, but the real winner is Volume II anyway, so it’s not a big loss.
The third and final album I purchased this weekend is Wings Greatest. It’s obviously Wings’ Greatest Hits, and there isn’t a bad song in the set. Silly Love Songs, Jet, Band on the Run, it’s all quality.
Overall I couldn’t be happier with this week’s vinyl purchases. 4 great albums for $13 is a deal. I’m totally digging this vinyl collecting thing.
